Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday was added to four more central committees. Rajnath Singh earlier was a part two committees – Cabinet Committee on Security (CCS) and Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.

However, with the amendment in the composition, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has been added four more committees – including – Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.

Now, with this, Rajnath Singh will be a part of 6 committees out of the 8 committees formed by the Centre.

New Entrant to the South Block, Rajnath Singh had on Saturday took Charge of Defence Minister a day after the portfolio allocated to him. Singh has replaced Nirmala Sitharaman who has now been given the charge of Finance Ministry after Arun Jaitley opted out of Cabinet race.

Apart from this, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is a part of 6 committees barring Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs and Cabinet Committee on Accommodation. While Home Minister Amit Shah is a part of all 8 committees.

While the Appointments Committee of Cabinet is a lone committee that only has -PM Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah.

While Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has been inducted in 6 cabinet Committees including – Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, Cabinet Committee on Security, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.

While Minister of Railways Piyush Goyal is a part of five committees including –  Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth, Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs,  and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.

While Giant Killer Smriti Irani who has been inducted as Minister of Women and Child Development in on board on a lone cabinet committee of Employment and Skill Development.

The Eight Cabinet Committees formed by Centre are Appointments Committee of the Cabinet, Cabinet Committee on Political Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Parliamentary Affairs, Cabinet Committee on Accommodation, Cabinet Committee on Investment and Growth and Cabinet Committee on Employment and Skill Development.

All 57 Ministers took oath on May 30 along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi at Rashtrapati Bhawan. Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led Bharatiya Janata Party, on May 23 scripted history by bagging 303 seats on its own in the recently concluded national polls. Along with its allies, it took its tally to 352 Lok Sabha Seats out of 542 Seats were national polls held in April-May in seven phases.
