After being denied permission to attend the C-40 summit in Denmark, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal will address the meeting through video-conferencing.

The AAP leader will be participating in the session titled ‘Breathe deeply, City solutions for clean air‘. He will also be participating in a joint press conference with mayors of six major world cities at 12 pm today.

Joint Press Conference for Clean Air Cities Declaration will see the participation of Annie Hidalgo (Mayor of Paris), Eric Garcetti (Mayor of LA), Frank Jensen (Mayor of Copenhagen), Ada Colau (Mayor of Barcelona), Ted Wheeler (Mayor of Portland), Jorge Munoz Wells (Mayor of Lima), and Arvind Kejriwal.

On a previous day, Ministry of External Affairs had denied permission to the AAP leader voicing the political considerations. Delhi Chief Minister was expected to speak at the C-40 Summit on his government’s efforts in lowering air pollution in the city. Over his tenure, the Delhi government has been successful in reducing the pollution by 25 percent. He was set to lead a team of 8 members and address a session titled “Breathe deeply“. C-40 summit will take place between October 9 and 12.

The non-clearance of the AAP leader’s visit has put the Delhi government and Union at loggerheads. The tension increased furthermore when  West Bengal Urban Development Minister Firhad Hakim was granted permission for the same event by MEA.

C-40 summit is a global platform that plans to address the climate action agenda by creating a space for cities to share their experiences.
