In a new development to the 2G case, Delhi High Court has transferred the 2G case to the court of special judge Ajay Kumar Kuhar. Previously the case was under the court of special judge OP Saini.

Owing to the forthcoming retirement of judge OP Saini in September end, The Court transferred the case. Ajay Kumar Kuhar is also hearing the case of INX media scam in which former Union Finance Minister P Chidambaram and his son Karti Chidambaram has been named. Another case of Aircel-Maxis scam has also been shifted from OP Saini to Ajay Kumar Kuhar. In this case, also, Chidambaram father-son duo has been found to be involved.

Delhi High court’s order issuing the decision read, “Chief Justice and Judges of this Court (high court) have been pleased to order that cases pertaining to 2G Spectrum scam pending in the Court of Mr. OP Saini, District and Sessions Judge-cum-Special Judge (PC Act) (CBI), Rouse Avenue Courts Complex, New Delhi be transferred and allocated to the Court of Special Judge (PC Act) (CBI)-09, Rouse Avenue Courts Complex, New Delhi presently presided over by Mr. A K Kuhar with effect from October 1, 2019, which shall be the designated Court to undertake the trial of the said 2G Spectrum Cases in addition to matters already pending before the Court of Mr. Ajay Kumar Kuhar.

What is 2G Case?

The 2G spectrum case is an alleged scam of $40 billion. The scam took place during the tenure of the United Progressive Alliance (Congress) coalition. The government was accused of undercharging telephone companies for frequency allocation licenses. It was estimated that several companies received the frequency at throwaway prices.
