Gearing for the Lok Sabha Polls which are now just days away, The Election Commission of India will hold its first meeting with central observers of all the states today in New Delhi to look after poll preparations for the upcoming mega battle of ballots that are slated to be kicked off on April 11.

Chief Election Commissioner Sunil Arora and Election Commissioners Ashok Lavasa and Sushil Chandra will be briefing the state Observers in a run-up to the General Elections They are expected to convey them about their roles and responsibilities during the electoral process.
Earlier on March 12, The Special Central Observers Dr Noor Mohammad, Vinod Zutshi, IAS and Sh. A.S.Gill met with the Chief Election Commissioner Shri Sunil Arora, Election Commissioners Shri Ashok Lavasa and Shri Sushil Chandra at ECI Headquarters. They were appointed by the Poll Body to assess and stock the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
While the Central Observers meeting which is slated for today came days after the Poll body announced the dates for the upcoming General Elections 2019. Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019. General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
