The Google Doodles have always been extremely creative and satisfying to browsers of the web. Today, google celebrates Kamala Das, a influential Malayalam author in the post colonial era who wrote about women’s sexual lives and marital problems.

Kamala, was born in a Hindu family and later converted to Islam at the age of 68 and was known as Kamala Suraiya.

In an attempt to honour this highly talented lady, google made a doodle based on her and published it on Thursday. On account of her extensive contribution to the poetry in our country, she has earned the label ‘The Mother of Modern Indian English Poetry’.

The author has regained space in the central media because of a biopic that is being made on her titled ‘Aami’, has been obstructed right before it’s release. A petition against the film has been filed in the Kerala High Court, stating that the film justifies love Jihad.

The petitioners have requested court to the ask CBFC to not issue a certificate to the film that stars Manju Warrier. Earlier, Vidya Balan was supposed to play the role of Kamala Das in the movie.
