Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said on Thursday that, “Government is studying Kanhaiya Kumar’s chargesheet”, after a Delhi court slammed the Delhi government for sitting on a file seeking sanction to proceed in a case of sedition of 2016, against former JNU student union president Kanhaiya Kumar and nine others.
The government is studying the chargesheet. Police took three years in filing it. It is a lengthy chargesheet, Arvind Kejriwal said.
He added,” they filed the chargesheet without permission and before the election, this raise certain questions. It is important to study the chargesheet as per the Law and and the government will take any decisions accordingly”.
The Delhi court on January 14 had filed a charge sheet against former JNU students union leader Kanhaiya Kumar, Umar Khalid, Anirban Bhattacharya and seven other students on charges of sedition, criminal conspiracy, anti-national slogans, rioting and IPC sections.
All the 10 people had allegedly shouted anti-national slogans in a rally inside JNU on February 9, 2016 to mark the death anniversary of Parliament attack mastermind Afzal Guru and Kashmiri separatist Maqbool Bhat.
Knahaiya Kumar and nine others have accused the police for filing a false charge sheet against them.
