A government school in Uttar Pradesh’s Sonbhadra district has been accused of serving diluted milk under mid-day meal scheme. The authorities at the government primary school allegedly added one litre milk to a bucket full of water. The diluted milk was served to as many as 85 children in the school.

When asked about the same, the employees said that there was unavailability of adequate quantity of milk and hence they had no option but to dilute it with water to cater the adequate requirement.

“There were almost 85 children and there was only one packet of milk. I was asked by Sir to add water in it and hence added the packet of milk to one full bucket of water”, said one employee.

The matter came to light after District officials visited the area to check the quality of the mid-day meal.

Earlier, in the month of September, a case was registered against a journalist after he made a video of children being served chapatis and salt in their mid-day meal at a primary school in Uttar Pradesh’s Mirzapur.
