As the Lok Sabha Polls 2019 and Assembly Polls in Haryana is approaching closer, Haryana government led by Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar on Thursday announced that government will release 44,000 tubewell connection in next six months to the farmers. These connections were pending since January 1, 2014.

Addressing a Press Conference, Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar they would complete the process of 44,000 tubewell connections in next six to eight months after issuing demand drafts for the same within three months. He added that a target has been set to issue 50,000 new solar energy connections of which tenders have been floated for 15,000 connections.

Almost half of the total 44,000 tubewell connections will be solar energy based while the rest of the connections will be issued by the power department. As many as 25,000 connections belong to small farmers. The government will offer a subsidy for installation of the solar systems for the tube wells. Earlier a few months back, Haryana Government has announced to give a subsidy to households that have a consumption less than 500 units.

While giving the details of the reforms and achievements of the Power Department during the last four years, Khattar said that use of solar energy in tubewells reduces power consumption by 30 percent.

He also announced to install 10 Lakh smart meters in the state by Power Discoms.

Highlighting the efforts of his government in improving power grid set up in the state, Khattar said that the State government has improved the losses being caused by monthly payment of  30 crores to Power Grid for Inter-State Transmission and saved about Rs 300 crore by National Thermal Power Project at Jhajjar and pending cases of inter-state
transmission payment amounting to about 1120 crore has so far been sent to the power grid.

He also applauded his government and said’ His government is first such government since the inception of Haryana which has reduced power tariff and FSA (fuel surcharge adjustment).
