While the news of surge pricing in Shatabdi and Rajdhani express is still hot, the railway minister Suresh Prabhu has announced that the proposed Humsafar train, a project which was announced in the rail budget this year, will be launched next month with around 20% more fair than the current fair in the same categories.
Humsafar express, a special train comprising of only the AC 3 tier coaches will run from Delhi to Gorakhpur. It is a part of the initiative taken by the railway minister to have such trains between cities for an overnight travel. Humsafar express will be equipped with facilities like GPS System, passenger information system, CCTV and charging points for every birth.
Along with the above mentioned things, the train will also have futuristic and creative interiors and exteriors on the verge of Maharaja Express. The officials stated that importing and putting this train on the track has costed a lot more to the railways and that is why, the department is planning to keep the fair higher than the other trains in the same AC 3 category.
The fair, however, has not been finalized but according to the officials, it should not exceed 20% more than the normal fair on the mail/express trains running on the same route. He further added that more such routes where running overnight Humsafar trains is a possibility, have been identified, and the department is working on getting the final arrangements done on having the train on more routes.
