Chief Minister of Delhi Arvind Kejriwal today handed over a government job certificate to deceased IB officer Ankit Sharma’s brother Ankur Sharma. Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia was also present during the meeting. The CM and Deputy CM both met the family of Ankur Sharma.

“Ankur Sharma, brother of IB employee Ankit Sharma, who lost his life in Delhi violence, was handed over a government job certificate by Honorable Chief Minister Shri @ArvindKejriwal ji today. They have been posted in the Education Department of Delhi Government” tweeted CMO Delhi.

Kejriwal affirmed that the government will continue to help the family in future.

The chief minister tweeted “Loss of human life can never be fulfilled but with this government job and Rs 1 crore assistance, the family will get strength. In future too, we will help the family in every possible way”.

In February 2020, Ankit Sharma was found dead in a drain close to his home in northeast Delhi’s riot-hit Chand Bagh region. The Delhi government announced to provide a government job to Ankur Sharma in March 2021.

The riots had erupted in northeast Delhi on February 24, 2020 after  conflicts between citizenship law supporters and protesters spiralled, leaving at least 53 people dead and around 200 injured.

Sisodia tweeted, “Ankur Sharma, the brother of Delhi Riots victim and ex-IB staffer Ankit Sharma was given a job certificate by CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal. Ankur Sharma is being appointed to the education department of the Delhi Government.”

Meanwhile, Ankur Sharma said the Delhi government has supported his family at every step following the death of his brother, according to the statement.

“The CM provided us with financial assistance. Today, I have been offered a government job in the Delhi government by the CM,” the statement quoted Ankur Sharma as saying.

Slamming Bhartiya Janta Party “BJP people did dirty politics on the death of Ankit Sharma. And then left his family unattended. We did not do any politics with him, kept in constant touch with the family and helped him at every turn”- Kejriwal took it to twitter.

In response to Kejriwal, Parvesh Sahib Singh Verma, member of parliament from West Delhi Lok Sabha Constituency tweeted in Hindi “Kejriwal, Delhiites well remember Ankit Sharma, who was stabbed 51 times by Aam Aadmi Party councilor Tahir Hussain with his friends and threw them in the drain, now because mcd elections are coming, that’s why @ArvindKejriwal gave money to the family. Kejriwal only knows how to do dirty politics”.
