Amid Speculations about Samajwadi Party and Bahujan Samaj Party sealing the seat pact in Uttar Pradesh for Lok Sabha 2019 without taking Congress in the alliance, Congress Senior Leader and Rajya Sabha MP PL Punia on Saturday said his party his ready to go ‘alone’ in the state that sends 80 parliamentarians to the Lower House of the Parliament, Lok Sabha.

While talking to Media Punia said, “A coalition is not important. Our workers are ready. We have not spoken to anyone about an alliance.

PL Punia’s statement comes after a day when Samajwadi Party Leader Akhilesh Yadav met BSP Supremo in New Delhi. Reportedly, in a two-hour long discussion, both the leaders have finalized seat allotment. Both of them have also decided about the name of the candidates set to contest from key constituencies. Reports also claimed that both have also decided to contest on equal seats just to avoid any kind of dispute. According to reports, BSP, SP finalize alliance terms without Congress for 2019 general elections.

As per the latest reports, SP and BSP have agreed to contest 37 Lok Sabha seats each while the remaining seats will be left for the Rashtriya Lok Dal and other smaller parties. However, The proposed alliance is expected to leave – Raebareli and Amethi – both stronghold of Congress Party.

However, Ram Gopal Yadav, effectively number 2 in the Samajwadi Camp said the alliance with Congress is an ‘imaginary’ He asked reports, ‘Why are you imagining?’

On December 27, SP Leader Akhilesh Yadav hit back at Congress for not including party’s lone legislator in MP Government despite helping the Congress to reach the majority mark in the state. Former UP Chief Minister said to media, “Thanks to the Congress, they did not make our vidhayak (legislator) a minister” He added ‘by doing so, they have cleared the path for Uttar Pradesh indicating that party will not give a second thought for taking Congress in the proposed alliance in a run-up to Lok Sabha 2019.

BSP Supremo on December 31 also warned the Congress and said that party will have to “review” its decision of outside support to the Congress governments in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh unless cases registered against “innocent” people in connection with the Bharat Bandh on April 2, 2018, are withdrawn.

Amid all these Developments, Mahendra Nath Pandey, the Uttar Pradesh BJP chief, today said “the upcoming election with be Prime Minister Narendra Modi versus all”. “Let Akhilesh Yadav and Mayawati form their alliance. The BJP’s alliance is with the people of the nation,” he added.
