What can be seen as a big setback for the party in Odisha ahead of State Elections; its two leaders who were in the fray for the state polls tendered their resignation on Wednesday. The two Candidates Yudhistir Samantray from Pipili Assembly Seat and Bibhu Tarai, a nominee from Tirtol assembly seats alleged mismanagement in the state unit of the party.

Slamming the Congress, Samantray said the State Leaders have put tickets on sale while Tarai lashed out at Grand Old party for nominating Candidates having a serious criminal background

Both the leaders have sent their resignation letters to Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee Chief Niranjan Patnaik.

Tarai, a former MP racking up the state leaders said, ‘the party has named candidates which are accused in a murder case, Is this not a criminalization of Politics’?

Sources claimed that Tarai may join BJP and might contest the General Elections 2019 from Jagatsinghpur Lok Sabha seat as BJP Nominee.

While Samantray in a viral clip can be purportedly heard saying that the party has sold tickets. He further alleged that party has however fielded him but working to defeat him.

‘I will not contest the Odisha State Polls and will return the ticket’, He said.

However, OPCC termed the allegations baseless. Commenting on the issue, State vice-president and spokesman Arya Gyanendra said, ‘There is some Misunderstanding and everything will be sorted soon’

Intensifying its hunt for Lok Sabha Polls and State Polls in Odisha that slated to be clubbed, Indian National Congress has far declared candidates on 132 seats out of the total 147 seats of the State.

Congress in a run-up to the Odisha State Polls has stitched an alliance with Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and will take on Naveen Patnaik’s BJD and aggressive Bhartiya Janta Party.

The State will Poll on the four rounds of Polling starting from April 11.

The State has a total of 147 State Assembly while having 21 Lok Sabha Seats. Currently, BJD has 117 lawmakers in the state assembly. Congress won 16 Assembly seats in last assembly polls and BJP won 10 Assembly Seats.
