Indian Army has yet again conducted an operation similar to surgical-strikes against Naga Insurgents alongside the India-Myanmar border. The move was announced by the eastern wing of Indian Army.

According to the release by Eastern Command of Indian Army, it had indulged in a firefight against the NSCN (K) group members alongside the India Myanmar border and fears a huge number of casualties on the enemy side. The operation took place in the early hours of Wednesday and no casualty from the Indian side was reported.

According to the statement issued, the members of National Socialist Council of Nagaland-Khaplang (NSCN-K) started firing on the Indian troops at around 4:45 am on Wednesday. The Indian troops reacted swiftly and huge losses were reported on the side of NSCN (K). The army has maintained its stance stating that it did not cross the international border and that the development cannot be termed as a surgical strike.

Answering the ongoing rumours about Indian men losing lives, the eastern command clarified by tweeting. The tweet said, “Reports of casualties to #IndianArmy personnel factually incorrect. Firefight occurred along Indo-Myanmar border at 0445 hrs today @adgpi.”

Indian troops had conducted a similar operation in June 2015, crossing the international borders. That step was taken after the insurgent groups were involved in killing on over 20 Indian military personnel.
