Joining the club of some of the elite countries, India might soon allow their women soldiers and officers to take up combat roles. The move was confirmed by chief of Army Staff, General Bipin Rawat in New Delhi recently.

Talking to the media reporters, Bipin Rawat said that Army is working on process to include women in challenging combat roles and very soon, there will be a confirmation on this. In the initial phase, the army will recruit women for its military police wing and gradually, it will be added to all the wings under Indian Army.

General Rawat also stated that it’s about time that India is seen on par with other elite international forces. The senior leadership within the army has shown confidence in women taking over the challenging responsibilities. He also confirmed that all the preparations in this regard are in final stage and there will be an official confirmation soon.
