RJD Chief Lalu Prasad Yadav‘s daughter Misa Bharti and her husband Shailesh Kumar are alleged to have purchased land in the Bijwasan area of Delhi through a web of shell companies. Income tax authorities have issued summons to the couple in connection with alleged Rs 1,000-crore benami property deals.
The Enforcement Directorate has alleged chartered accountant Rajesh Kumar also, for helping Misa Bharti and her husband for the transactions in benami property deals.
On 16 May, Income tax authorities had conducted multiple raids and searches on premises and offices of about two dozen entities connected to benami property deal case and had seized documents and computer hardware.
Misa Bharti and Rajesh Kumar have been asked to appear before the investigating officer in the first week of June.
