Former Prime Minister and Janta Dal (Secular) Chief HD Deve Gowda on Wednesday announced that his grandson Prajwal Revanna to party’s candidate from Hassan Lok Sabha seat in the fast-approaching General Elections 2019.
JD(S) Chief announcement came in a party workers’ meeting held at Mudalahippe village in Holenarsipur taluk. The former PM blessed Revanna to win the mega battle of ballots.

Currently, Hassan Parliamentary Constituency is represented by HD Deve Gowda. However, this time, Prajwal Revanna, son of State Public Works Minister H.D. Revanna is all set to take on Bhartiya Janta Party’s Candidate.
Speaking in the event where he announced Prajwal’s Candidature, HD Deve Gowda said I had in the past introduced many people in politics, but I cannot find why people find difficult when I introduced my family members in the politics, added former PM.
However, Prajwal Revanna contesting as JD(S) candidate from Hasan is not a new development. The Speculations about him contesting from his were on height since Gowda announced his decision ahead of last year’s Assembly polls. Gowda’s other grandson Nikhil Kumaraswamy is set to file his nomination papers as JD(S) candidate from Mandya constituency.
While Bhartiya Janta Party is planning to field Congress Rebel leader A Manju to take on Gowda’s Grandson from Hassan Lok Sabha Polls.
Congress and Janta Dal (Secular) is busy in stitching alliance while BJP intends to go alone in the Lok Sabha Polls. Karnataka has a total of 28 Lok Sabha Seats.
Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019. General Elections are slated for April-May this year that would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Counting of Votes and Results for the mega Battle of ballots will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
Voting in 28 seats of Karnataka will be spread in two phases on April 18 and April 23.
