As the agitation of the farmers in Madhya Pradesh is increasing, Yogi Adityanath led government in Uttar Pradesh is trying to help the farmers in the state by giving loan waiver to almost 86 lakh farmers, whose loan amount is below 1 lakh. However, the farmers will be relived only after the proposal of loan waiver is passed by the State Finance department, in the budget which is due to be passed later this month.

For the time being till the budget is passed and the loan waiver of 86 lakh farmers is approved, Yogi Adityanath has instructed the banks to put a hold on the notices to all the farmers unable to pay the loan.

The UP government had in a cabinet meeting in April announced a Rs 36,500 crore loan waiver for nearly 86 lakh farmers in the state, one of the biggest loan waivers done by any state from its own coffers. The CM has instructed the state finance department that the loan waiver amount of Rs 36,500 crore should be provided to the banks soon after the state budget is passed with a provision for the same.

Officials of UP government will also go door-to-door to distribute loan waiver certificates to the 86 lakh farmers as a reassurance to them. A committee headed by the district magistrate in each district will be formed to ensure each of the 86 lakh benefiting farmers is reached out to.

UP chief Minister is trying to win the hearts and support of the farmers in the state by implementing various measures to help them. UP government acquired wheat to the tune of 32.16 lakh metric tonnes this year, four times the procurement done last year. Adityanath also stated that the government has cleared Rs 22,190 crore of dues of sugarcane farmers in the past two months and there has been a record production of sugar in the state.
