In a national executive meeting of the Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) held today, Chirag Paswan was elected as the national president of the party. The leader was elected unanimously by the party members. He is the son of Union minister Ram Vilas Paswan.
Chirag Paswan is a Lok Sabha MP from Jamui in Bihar. He has also been made the chairman of the party’s central parliamentary board. He is the second term Lok Sabha member

On the election of his son as the party’s president, Ram Vilas Paswan expressed happiness and said he hopes that son Chirag Pawan will work towards strengthening the party.
Lok Janshakti Party was formed in 2000 after Ram Vilas Paswan quit the Janata Dal (United). Presently, the party is a member of the National Democratic Alliance. The party mainly comprises of Dalit leaders in Bihar.
