Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) supremo Mayawati has set her eyes on the southern states and is working to build an alliance with the regional parties that are not allied with the BJP nor the Congress.

On Friday, the Bahujan Samajwadi Party and Pawan Kalyan’s Jana Sena Party(JSP) announced an alliance in Andhra Pradesh and Telangana.

Mayawati is scheduled to address rallies in Andhra Pradesh on April 3 and in Telangana on April 4 along with JSP chief Pawan Kalyan.

The BSP is also set to contest the Andhra Pradesh assembly elections in alliance with the JSP.

The BSP-JSP alliance is likely to project Pawan Kalyan as the Chief Ministerial candidate in Andhra Pradesh.

Also, Pawan Kalyan said the JSP would project Mayawati as the JSP-BSP alliance’s  candidate for Prime Minister in the Lok Sabha Elections.

The Bahujan Samaj Party has already announced that it will field candidates on 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state of Karnataka.

Mayawati is scheduled to kick-off her Lok Sabha Election campaign from Bhubaneswar in Odisha on April 2.

She is scheduled to address a rally in Nagpur on April 5 and after that launch campaign in Uttar Pradesh by addressing a joint-rally along with alliance partner SP and RLD, in Deboand on April 7.

However, a political observer RK Gautam said, though the Bahujan Samaj Party failed to make significant presence in the Assembly as well as Lok Sabha elections in the southern states, Mayawati was working to expand her party’s base by fielding candidates.

He said, “It was the formation of the JD (S)- Congress-BSP government in Karnataka after 2018 assembly elections that buoyed Mayawati. She is now planning to cash in on the momentum.”
