Ahead of the start of the winter session of the Parliament, Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla will hold a meeting with the leader of all parties in the House on Saturday. The session will begin from November 18 and continue till December 13.

According to the reports, the meeting will be held in the Parliament Library Building at 3.30 pm. It is speculated that the session will see the discussion of crucial bills like regularising 1,728 unauthorized colonies in Delhi, safeguarding the rights of doctors on duty from any kind of assault along with others.

The government is also expected to roll out new ordinance replacing two previous ordinances related to corporate tax rate cuts and E-cigarette ban. The corporate tax rate cut is for new domestic manufacturing companies while the E-cigarette ordinance calls for banning the sale, manufacture, and storage of e-cigarettes and similar products. The first ordinance was placed in September to support the amendments in the Income Tax Act, 1961 and Finance Act, 2019. The second ordinance was also placed in the month of September.

The session is also likely to see the active role of Opposition parties. For a long time, opposition leaders have been targeting the ruling BJP administration over the matter of “economic slowdown” and “Rafale deal”, therefore, these issues can direct the direction of the upcoming session.
