Maharashtra state saw a total of 60.5 percent voter turnout till 6 pm in yesterday’s assembly polls. The polling in the state began from 7 am to 6 pm on October 21.

The state went to the polls for its 288 assembly seats. Counting of votes will take place on October 24.

Lok Sabha’s seat of Satara constituency which went for the by-poll saw 60.25 percent voter turnout. In 2014 assembly elections, Maharastra had seen 63.08 poll percentage in the terms of voter turnout which saw a dip this time. 96,661 polling booths were set up to ensure the smooth conduct of elections in the state. Heavy security was also deployed to meet the logistics needs of the election exercise.

In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, approximately 60.79 percent of voters participated in the election procedure.

On a related note, Haryana state also went to the polls for its 90 assembly seats yesterday. The state recorded a voting percentage of 65 percent in till 6 pm.

In the previous assembly elections of 2014, the state recorded 76. 54 percent voting. In the Lok Sabha elections of 2014, Haryana’s voting percentage was 71.84 percent while in the 2019 Lok Sabha election, it was 70.35 percent.

A total of 4400 candidates have contested in yesterday’s elections, out of which 1169 candidates were fighting in Haryana. 3237 candidates were seen contesting for the power in Maharashtra state.
