The Supreme Court verdict on the Rafale deal has flared up hostility between the Centre and the Congress-led Opposition.

With a series of comments hurled from both the sides, comes a statement from Public Accounts Committee(PAC) Chairman Mallikarjun Kharge

Kharge threw a pungent remark on the government by saying that the government lied in the Supreme Court.

Kharge declared that he will ask the PAC to summon Attorney General KK Venugopal and CAG Rajiv Mehrishi and question them about when was the public auditor’s report tabled before the panel.

He further demanded the government to apologize for “misleading” the top court.

He added, “When has the CAG discussed the PAC report. It has not been the table so far. Wrong information is being fed in the Supreme Court, it is a matter of shock…The government should apologize for misleading SC by presenting wrong facts on CAG report before the Supreme Court.”

These statements came in the wake of the 29-page SC verdict which mentions that the report was shared with the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) which is headed by Kharge.

He also said that he respects the Supreme Court, but it is not a probe agency.

Further, he added that only a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) can probe the alleged corruption in the Rafale deal.
