On the eve of World Water Monitoring Day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee called for the need for conservation of water. She emphasized on the promotion of using the water resources judiciously.
Mamata Banerjee ina tweeted message wrote, “Our #Bangla Govt has recently announced the new ‘Jalashree’ scheme with the aim of coordinating irrigation projects involving canals, wetlands, and rivers so as to give effective relief to people during periods of drought.”
The Chief Minister informed the people about Jalashree scheme of the state government.

World Water Monitoring Day is celebrated annually since 2003. The days was started by America’s Clean Water Foundation (ACWF), which aims to gather public awareness towards protecting water resources.
