On the occasion of International Youth Day, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee urged the youths to question the ruling government at centre on the issue of employment.

From here, Mamata Banerjee also slammed the Union government for the highest unemployment rate in the country, which is at an all-time high in 45 years.

India’s unemployment rate in 2017-18 was 6.1 percent that reported that joblessness in the country is at a 45-year high. Labour Ministry’s data testified the data but it refused to comment on the comparison with previous data, as it said that the design matrix of measuring employment is changed.

Mamata Banerjee told that according to the data, West Bengal has registered a GDP (Gross Domestic Product) growth rate of 12.58 percent in 2018-19 while the unemployment rate was 6.1 percent during the period. This has helped West Bengal in brining down its unemployment by 45 percent.

She also told that despite the sluggish growth, state of deep recession and policy paralysis due to Centre’s rule, West Bengal has been successful in achieving this amazing feat.
