In its first cabinet meeting after taking charge as PM for the second term, PM Modi chaired Cabinet on Friday approved scheme to control two common diseases in Livestock – Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis.

Briefing the media after the first Cabinet meeting, Prakash Javadekar, now an I&B Minister, said as quoted by ANI, ‘Cabinet has cleared a special scheme for Control of Foot & Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis. The diseases of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) and Brucellosis are very common among the livestock – cow-bulls, buffaloes, sheep, goats, pigs’.

The Scheme approved by the Narendra Modi led cabinet on Friday aimed at the vaccination coverage of 20 crore Goat or Sheep, 10 million Pigs, and 30 crore bovines.

As per the government’s statement, The expense of the scheme is currently shared by both the Union Government and the State Government. However, the Central Government has decided to bear the expense on its own.

Javadekar said, ‘An amount of total ₹13,343 crore will reserve for this scheme for the next 5 years and subsequently aim to eradicate the decide’.

Apart from this Cabinet in its first meet approved many other welfare schemes including the ₹3000 monthly pension to Small Traders and Businessmen. The Union Cabinet also approved the PM Kisan Scheme for all Farmers irrespective of the land they owned.

The First Cabinet Meeting that held on Friday was chaired by PM Narendra Modi.

Earlier in the day, PM Modi allocated Portfolios to all new Ministers inducted in his Cabinet 2.0. PM Narendra Modi in his Cabinet 2.0 made crucial changes replacing Rajnath Singh with Amit Shah for Home Ministry while Nirmala Sitharaman who held Defence Portfolio in previous government has now been allocated Finance Ministry in absence of Arun Jaitley.

Rajnath Singh has been appointed as the next Defence Minister replacing Nirmala Sitharaman.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi who got a massive mandate in recently held national polls, on Thursday took oath for the second term in an official function at Rashtrapati Bhawan. President Ram Nath Kovind administrated oath to PM and his Council of Ministers. A total of 57 ministers along with PM Modi took oath at the ceremony held in the national capital.
