Modi government has recruited nearly 2 lakh candidates for government jobs in the last five years: Union Minister Jitendra Singh in Parliament.

Modi government at the Center has recruited about 2 lakh candidates for government jobs in five years. The Central Government gave this information in Parliament on Wednesday. Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh told a question in Parliament that in the last five years, about two lakh candidates were recruited for central government jobs.

Union Minister Dr Singh said that in the last five years, 1,85,734 and 27,764 advertisements were issued by the Staff Selection Commission and the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) and on the basis of this, 1,74,744 and 24,836 candidates were recruited. 

On the issue of employment, the opposition is constantly attacking the Narendra Modi government at the Center and has been alleging that this government is failing in the matter of providing employment.

The Union Minister told the Parliament that in view of the priority of the government in the direction of creating employment opportunities, many schemes have been run. In which there are Prime Minister’s Employment Generation Program, Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme, Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana, Garib Kalyan Rozgar Abhiyan, Self-reliant India Employment Scheme and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay Rural Skill Scheme etc.

In the reply given by the Union Minister, it has been said that from 2017-18 to 2021-22 (total 2,133,498) SSC had advertised 1,85,734 vacancies and UPSC had released 27,764 vacancies. The issue of employment had dominated the recent assembly elections. The opposition had tried to surround the government by raising the issue of recruitment in various sectors including the army.

A few days ago, Union Labor Minister Bhupendra Yadav, in response to a question in the Rajya Sabha, said that during the seven years of the Modi government, good figures have emerged on the employment front. He had said that since the financial year 2013-14 till now, there has been a growth of 22 per cent in employment. Bhupendra Yadav had said that employment has increased in 9 sectors including transport, education, hospitality and business.

PM Modi asks secretaries to take job creation as a priority

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has suggested to secretaries of the central government to hand-hold the private sector to give impetus to manufacturing and job creation and stressed that employment should be the focus of all interventions in the public and private sectors, Cabinet Secretary Rajiv Gauba said.

Gauba wrote to the secretaries requesting them to “initiate immediate action” on the suggestions made to them by the prime minister at the meeting on April 2.

The letter, dated April 4, also mentioned “decriminalisation of minor offences and violations on mission mode”. “All such provisions need to be reviewed and action taken accordingly to repeal/amend these provisions, in a time-bound manner,” the letter stated.
