The monsoon session of the Haryana Assembly will begin from August 2 and it is expected to the last before the state goes to polls in October-November this year. The decision was taken at a state cabinet meeting which was held on Tuesday under the chairmanship of CM Manohar Lal Khattar.

In the meeting, the State Cabinet approved a proposal for setting up a new rail project to connect Palwal and Sonipat District of the state. The estimated cost of the project is cost Rs 5,566 crore, an official release stated.

Haryana Rail Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. (HRIDC) will implement the Haryana Railway Corridor Project connecting Palwal to Sonipat. HRIDC is a joint venture of the Railway Ministry and the state government.

The total railway route of the railway project is 121.742 km and it will have 17 stations, including 14 new stations and three existing stations. The 12.1742 km long route will have 23 major waterway bridges, 195 minor waterway bridges and three rail flyovers, the release said added.

This will also reduce the travel time of the passengers by directly connecting Gurugram with Chandigarh, bypassing Delhi. The release added that the Private companies like Maruti Suzuki, All Cargo Logistics and JM Baxi Group have shown willingness in the project with equity contribution.

While the state government also approved the amendment in the Haryana Civil Service (Executive Branch) Rules, 2008, in order to bring it more close to the pattern being adopted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC).

‘Amendments to the Haryana Civil Services (Executive Branch) Rules, 2008 have also been approved. These rules will bring more equity and uniformity in accordance with the rules of the UPSC. After the revision, the main written examination for the post of HCS and Allied Services will have 4 papers’, said CMO Haryana.

The Cabinet meeting chaired by CM Manohar Lal Khattar in Chandigarh also today approved the amendment to the Haryana Municipality Act, 1973. Now, in municipal councils and municipalities, the election of the Chairperson will be held by the State Election Commission on the lines of the election of Mayor of Municipal Corporations.
