New Delhi: The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare informed on Thursday that the fifth day of the COVID-19 vaccination program was conducted successfully.

The cumulative number of healthcare workers vaccinated against COVID-19 has touched 8,06,484 through more than 14 thousand sessions, as per the provisional report. 2,353 sessions were held till 6 pm yesterday, informed the ministry.

A total of 1,12,007 beneficiaries were vaccinated till 6 pm on Wednesday, the fifth day of nationwide COVID-19 vaccination.

As per the ministry, at least 600 adverse events following immunization (AEFI) reported in India the past five days, one of the lowest in the world. So far, 10 people have been hospitalized in six states due to reported adverse events following Covid immunization, of which seven have been discharged. A total of 82 AEFIs have been reported till 6 pm on the fifth day of the vaccination drive.

Meanwhile, the Union Health and Family Welfare Ministry on Wednesday said that India registered 15,223 fresh cases of coronavirus which pushed the total tally to 1,06,10,883 in the nation. The active cases now stand at 1,92,308. With 19,965 new recoveries, as far as 1,02,65,706 patients recovered, and with 151 new deaths in the last 24 hours, the death toll has risen to 1,52,869, as per Union Health Ministry.

As per the Indian were Council of Medical Research (ICMR), a total of 18,93,47,782 samples were tested for COVID-19 up to 20 January, of which 7,80,835 samples were tested yesterday.

As per Union Health and Welfare Ministry, the infection (Active) rate is 1.81 percent, the recovery rate has reached 96.75 percent and the death rate is 1.44 percent.
