In a big boost to Congress Mumbai Chief Milind Deora, Mukesh Ambani, the Chairman of Reliance Industries has backed him for the Mumbai South seat. In a video shared by Mumbai Congress Chief, Ambani can be seen endorsing him for the mega polls 2019.

In a 2:10 min long video, Ambani who appeared with others says, ‘Milind is the man for south Mumbai. Having represented South Bombay for 10 years, I believe Milind has in-depth knowledge of the social, economic and cultural ecosystem of south Bombay. Under his leadership, small and big enterprises will flourish in south Bombay.

Milind tweeted the video with a caption, ‘From small shopkeepers to large industrialists – for everyone, South Mumbai means business. We need to bring businesses back to Mumbai and make job creation for our youth a top priority’.

He added, ‘I’m humbled and honoured by the support I’ve received from across communities, including titans of industry like Mukesh Ambani and . Their endorsement for my candidature in South Mumbai, though apolitical and in their capacity as private citizens, is truly encouraging’.

Apart from Ambani, Uday Kotak, Executive Vice chairman and managing director of Kotak Mahindra Bank also backed his Candidature from South Mumbai Seat. ‘Milind is truly Mumbai ka connection. I genuinely believe Milind understands south Mumbai, his family has been associated with Mumbai for a long time, his family is (an) advocate of trade and industry in New Delhi’ says Uday Kotak in the 2:10 min video.

Apart from Ambani and Kotak, the 2:10 min long video feature other small entrepreneurs, traders and ordinary citizens endorsing Milind Deora for the Lok Sabha Polls 2019.

Mukesh Ambani support to Deora has come in time when Congress in its Poll Campaign has been attacking his brother Anil Ambani over Rafale Issue. Responding on the query, Deora said, ‘Both Mukesh and Anil are different individuals’.

Congress in a run-up to the national elections has named Milind Deora against sitting Shiv Sena MP Arvind Sawant. Sawant had in 2014 defeated Deora by a margin of 1.28 lakh votes.

Milind Deora had in 2004 entered the Lok Sabha for the first time by defeating Jaywantiben of Bharatiya Janata Party. In 2009, Milind Deora defeated Maharashtra Navnirman Sena’s Bala Nandgaonkar.

Congress in a run-up to the General Elections has forged an alliance with NCP in Maharashtra. The Congress-NCP combine is taking on BJP-Shiv Sena alliance.

Maharashtra has a total of 48 Seats and will go to polls in four phases from April 11, then on April 18, April 23, and April 29.

General Elections have already begun and would spread on Seven Phases starting from April 11 to May 19. Election Commission had on March 10 declared schedule for General Elections 2019.

Results for the crucial Lok Sabha Polls will be announced on May 23 four days after the 7th phase of voting.
