owaisiAIMIM approaches Bombay HC for Muslim reservation in Maharashtra

A day after the Maharashtra State Assembly passed the Maratha Reservation Bill in Socially and Economically Backward category (SEBC),  All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul Muslimeen (AIMIM) approached the Bombay High Court for Muslim reservation in Maharashtra.

AIMIM MLA Imtiyaz Jalil said, “We won’t challenge it but will go to the court with new facts for Muslim reservation.”

He further alleged the government by saying,”this government is Anti-Muslim and they will never give reservation to the backward class of Muslims and that’s why the only legal option is left. Our legal team is working on the draft & very soon we will file the petition in Mumbai High Court.”

Former CM of Maharashtra Prithviraj Chavan said, “If the government is serious about Muslim reservation then they should bring an ordinance for Muslim reservation in education. We had done in this in the past. The high court has also not stayed our previous ordinance in which we had given 5 percentage reservation in education to the Muslim students.”

Hitting out at the opposition over Muslim reservation, Fadnavis questioned why the previous government did not give scholarships to Muslim students. He said,”The opposition is dividing the people and they are doing politics on the reservation. They are talking about Muslim reservation for the sake of vote bank politics.”
