During the inauguration of the Samruddha Bharat Foundation at Taj West End, Bengaluru, Congress President Rahul Gandhi gave an hour-long speech where he addressed the audience regarding his present views and opinions regarding the Karnataka polls and the relationship between INC and BJP. He began his statement by announcing that in the present day, Congress might appear to decline in power physically, but in reality, it is the only party which can challenge the Bharatiya Janata Party.

Rahul Gandhi expressed that he is very intrigued at the thought of the Indian government operating with their many new partners like the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha. Yet, whatever the case, the Congress leader firmly stated that he does not think that Narendra Modi will win the upcoming elections. Mr. Gandhi also said that he was very confident that Modi will not be the Prime Minister again. He explains that he can “see it in [Modi’s] face”.

Referring to a video which was shown at the beginning of the summit which revealed the increase of right-wing propaganda, violence, and discrimination all over India since the Modi Government took charge, Rahul Gandhi expressed his intentions to promote gender equality in the country. Gandhi stressed on his wish to see an increase in the number of women chief ministers in India, despite being aware of the negative comments and opposition this idea would invite from the predominantly male Indian society.

Rahul Gandhi also expressed his desire to change the current position of women in politics, starting with his own party itself. Even though he confirmed that the women have been given three times more tickets in Congress than in BJP, “it’s not enough.”
