Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik-led Odisha Government has started its steps in the direction of formulating a State Health Policy and Vision for 2025. A Senior State Minister revealing the plans said that the chief district medical officers have been directed to collect suggestions from the people over the proposed health policy.

State Health and Family Welfare Minister Naba Das said that seeking feedbacks and suggestions are important to formulate the policy that can provide quality health service to all.

Odisha Government with the new health policy is aiming to provide free healthcare service to all in the state. Addressing a conference of chief district medical officers, Minister said, Our Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik ji has stressed for ‘Healthcare For All’. We will formulate the policy keeping in mind that no one will be deprived of free treatment.

Minister also asked the Chief District Medical Officers to chalk out a 100-days action plan for ensuring quality health service to all. Minister further said that his government is now on efforts to make the state a surplus state in the field of doctors and paramedics.

While talking about the universal health coverage scheme, Biju Swasthya Kalyan Yojana (BSKY), Minister said, 70 lakh families are covered under this flagship programme.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik stormed back to the power in the state in the last month concluded polls. BJD in the recently concluded state polls won 112 seats, 5 less than what they had won in 2014 State polls. While BJP won 23, Congress 9 and one each bag by CPI-M and Independent Candidate. Odisha has a total of 147 Assembly seats.

The first session of the 16th Odisha Legislative Assembly will begin from June 25. The Session will have 30 working days and will be held in two phases. The first Session will start from June 25 and will continue till July 2. While the second phase will resume from July 12 and will continue till August 8.
