Jumping into the political crisis of the Maharashtra state, opposition parties such as Nationalist Congress Party and Congress sought the intervention of governor BS Koshyari on Tuesday.

The parties requested the governor to take up matter into his hands and solve the political deadlock in the state that has arisen due to the difference of opinion between Shiv Sena and BJP over the post of Chief Minister.

Speaking to the media, NCP leader Ajit Pawar said, “We don’t know as of now when the government will be formed. The Governor should intervene in this“. He further expressed his concerns over the state of farmers in the region affected by the heavy rains.

A meeting on the same matter to provide assistance to the farmers was also organized by the Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Wednesday. Fadnavis had also visited the regions like Lakhanwada, Chikhalgaon and Mhaispur villages on Sunday to inspect the crop damages due to torrential rains.

As quoted by ANI, Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said, “Farmers in five regions of Maharashtra have suffered a lot but the government has announced Rs 10,000 crore for them. This is not sufficient. The government should have announced relief of at least Rs 25,000 crore“. His comments come after the state administration announced a package of Rs. 10,000 crore for the farmers.

Bhartiya Janta Party and Shiv Sena have been involved in a tussle since the election results came out. The post of Chief Minister is the main hurdle that both the parties are unable to sort out. BJP has secured 105 seats while Shiv Sena sealed the victory on 56 seats. Shiv Sena is demanding the execution of 50:50 formula as iterated by Home Minister Amit Shah according to which power has to be shared between the two parties for a rotational basis.

Recently, Shiv Sena leader Sanjay Raut met the governor and said that he urges BJP to form the government as they are the single largest party,
