In the by-polls of Bihar state across various seats, the National Democratic Alliance member Lok Jan Shakti Party performed very badly.

The party could only manage to secure Samastipur Lok Sabha by-poll and just one assembly seat from five seats. LJP candidate Prince Raj won Samastipur seat by bagging 3.9 lakh votes. The polls were held across these seats on October 21. He defeated Congress’ Ashok Kumar by a margin of over one lakh votes.

By-polls were held for the assembly seats of Kishanganj, Simri Bakhtiarpur, Daraundha, Nathnagar, and Belhar constituencies. Out of it, BJP and its allies faced an embarrassing defeat in Kishanganj, Simri Bakhtiarpur, Daraundha, and Belhar constituencies. However, it could only manage to Nathnagar where its candidate Lakshmikant Mandal defeated RJD‘s Rabiya Khatun by over 5,000 votes.

From Kishanganj seat, Qamrul Hoda of the All India Majlis-E-Ittehadul Muslimeen won by defeating BJP’s Sweety Singh. Qamrul Hoda had polled over 70 thousand votes.

Similarly, in Simri Bakhtiarpur’s seat, RJD’s Zafar Alam defeated the JDU candidate Arun Kumar by more than 15 thousand votes. On Belhar seat too, RJD’s Ramdeo Yadav won the seat with a margin of close to 20 thousand votes.

Karnjeet Singh won Daraundha seat by beating JDU’s Ajay Kumar Singh with a margin of over 27 thousand votes. He is an Independent candidate.

LJP leader Chirag Paswan expressed satisfaction with his party’s candidate and cousin Prince Raj ‘s win from Samastipur parliamentary by-election. The leader also said that the party will sit down and have further discussions on the matter.

As quoted by ANI, he said, “This win is because of the work done by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar, and LJP chief Ramvilas Paswan’s policies. I thank the people for this victory.
