Newly selected CBI Chief Rishi Kumar Shukla is likely to rush to Kolkata to take stock of the situations after a shutdown broke out on Sunday between the Central Investigation Agency and West Bengal Police over questioning of West Bengal Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar on Shardha Chit fund scam. High Powered Panel picks Rishi Kumar Shukla, Former DG Police of MP, as new CBI Director

A Day earlier Chief Bureau of Investigation (CBI) claimed that West Bengal Police Commissioner Kumar had been “absconding” and “being looked for” in connection with Saradha and Rose Valley ponzi scam cases. However, as soon as CBI landed in Mamata’s Bastion on Sunday, a team of West Bengal Officers rushed to meet CBI Team to enquire whether they have the documents to held questions to West Bengal Police Commissioner Kumar.

Later on, the CBI Team was taken to Shakespeare Sarani police station and the commotion started with West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee started her ‘Save Democracy’ Dharna against Centre Government for allegedly misusing the Central investigation agency.

Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh speaking on the Issue in Lok Sabha said, ‘SC in its earlier order on the CBI investigation of Saradha chit fund case had said that CBI in its investigation till now had found involvement of many political & influential persons’. The Minister added, ‘West Bengal Governor Keshari Nath Tripathi has summoned Chief Secretary and Director General of Police and has asked them to take immediate action to resolve the situation’.

Ministry of Home Affairs also seeks a report on the role of IPS officers on allegations of obstructing investigation and violation of Service Conduct Rules in yesterday’s incident in Kolkata.

Lok Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm after the ruckus in the House over the West Bengal Issue.

Saugata Ray, MP Lok Sabha speaking on the Issue in the House said, ‘Satyagraha by West Bengal CM is against the misuse of CBI by central govt. We strongly protest against the CBI and BJP leadership led by PM Modi & Amit Shah who have damaged the constitutional structure. The PM should answer in the House’.

While Central Investigation Agency moved to the Apex Court seeking directions to Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar to cooperate with the investigation in Saradha chit fund case. CBI in its petition said Kolkata Police Commissioner Rajeev Kumar was summoned multiple times but failed to cooperate and created hurdles in the investigation.

Solicitor General Tushar Mehta representing CBI submits before Supreme Court, ‘Our team was arrested and kept in alleged custody. Kolkata Police Commissioner should immediately surrender.” Hearing on CBI plea in SC: CJI Ranjan Gogoi said, “If Kolkata Police Commissioner even remotely thinks of destroying evidence, bring the material before this Court. We will come down so heavily on him that he will regret.”

However, Court will hear the Plea tomorrow.
