The Westminster Magistrate’s court, London on Friday rejected the bail plea filed by the Fugitive Daimaintaire, Nirav Modi, an accused in the money laundering case. the next hearing is scheduled to be held on May 24 and the full hearing of the case will be held on May 30.

The 48-year old businessman is an accused in connection with the multi-billion dollar Punjab National Bank fraud. The alleged, Nirav Modi is facing extraditions proceeding in the United Kingdom and has been behind bars at Wandsworth prison in South West London since he was first arrested on March 19.

On 29 March, London court denied the second bail plea filed by Nirav Modi saying that the accused has made death threats to witnesses of the scam and attempted to destroy the pieces of evidence in the mobile phones and other sources.

While delivering her verdict, chief magistrate Emma Arbuthnot had said, “I am conscious of his right to bail but I find the conditions of bail do not allay my fears, so no bail can be granted to the accused.”

The first plea filed by Nirav Modi was rejected on 20 March, after his arrest on 19 March. A London court had issued an arrest warrant against the accused on 18 March.

Nirav Modi, an Indian Businessman who has been charged with Interpol by criminal conspiracy, criminal breach of trust, cheating and dishonesty including the delivery of property, corruption, money laundering, fraud, embezzlement, and breach of contract since August 2018. The biggest scam includes his involvement in $2 billion fraud case of Punjab national bank (PNB).
