Presenting the Union Budget 2019 in the Lok Sabha, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Friday announced to give Aadhar Card to NRIs having Indian Passport on Arrival. Finance Minister said, ‘I propose to consider issuing Aadhaar Card for Non-Resident Indians (NRIs) with Indian passports after their arrival in India without waiting for the mandatory 180 days’.

Nirmala Sitharaman also announced to set up new High Commissions and Embassies in others. Sitharaman said the government is planning to set up 18 new diplomatic missions in countries across Africa.
Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Finance Minister said, ‘To give further impetus to India’s growing influence and leadership in the international community, Government has decided to open Indian embassies and high commissions in countries where India doesn’t have a resident diplomatic mission as of now’.
She added that the Union Government is planning to open four new 4 embassies in the year 2019-20. She added that ‘This will not increase the footprint of India’s overseas presence but also enable us to provide better and more accessible public services especially to the local Indian communities in these countries’.

She further said that her government has approved 18 new embassies. Talking about the past a year, Nirmala Sitharaman informed the lower house of the parliament that four embassies – Rwanda, Equatorial Guinea, Republic of Guinea and Burkina Faso – were opened in the year 2018-2019.
This was Nirmala Sitharaman’s maiden Budget Presentation and the first Budget of the second Narendra Modi-led government.
