As the national executive meeting of the Janata Dal United JD(U)  is coming closer, the Nitish group seems to be ruling out people from the Sharad Yadav group.

Bihar politics seems to be divided into two camps, on e supporting Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and his decision of forming the new government in alliance with BJP and the 2nd one backing the rebel Sharad Yadav who is criticising the decision of Nitish. Sharad is now openly expressing his disapproval and indicated that he may quit the party and form a new one in alliance with RJD-Congress. Responding to the actions of Sharad, JD(U) is also giving him and his supporters the punishment for going anti party.

Earlier last week Ali Anwar was expelled from the party for representing Sharad in an opposition party meet organised by Sonia Gandhi. Later in the week, Sharad was also replaced by RCP Singh as the new party’s parliamentary leader. Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is organisng a national executive meeting of the Janata Dal United JD(U) on 19 Aug and is trying to clean away all the rebels ahead of the meeting.

Bihar JD(U) party president Vashistha Narayan Singh expelled 21 of its party members from the primary membership of the party on the grounds of them being the supporters of Sharad Yadav on Monday. These include several former ministers and former MPs also.

Former minister Ramai Ram’s name is on the top of the names in the list of members to be suspended by Vashishta Narayan Singh. Apart from him, former MP of Sitamarhi Arjun Rai is also among those who are suspended.

Apart from them, Rajkishor Sinha, former MLA- Vaishali, Vijay Verma, former Legislative Councilor-Madhepura, Dhanlalal Mukhiya, District President-Saharsa, Siyaram Yadav- State Council Secretary, Vindeshwari Singh, Former State President Labor Worker, Israel Mansouri- Apart from Council Member There are also several District Magistrates and Block Presidents. All of these have been accused of involvement in anti-party activities.

The practice of suspending the members from the party began from 8 Aug, when Chhotu Bhai Vasava, the only MLA of JDU, voted for the Congress candidate, Ahmed Patel going against the party line during the Gujarat Rajya Sabha polls. It is believed that this one crucial vote of Vasava only confirmed the victory of Ahmed Patel and Amit Shah’s entire strategy failed. Responding to the actions of Vasava, the Nitish camp removed the general secretary of the party in Gujarat and close to Sharad Yadav, Arun Shrivastava as general secretary and suspended him from the party for acting anti-party.

Meanwhile, the Sharad unit of the party believes that the real JD(U) is with him including the support of party chief of 14 states with him. Apart from these, many MPs and MLAs are also with them. This means that very soon Sharad Yadav will be leading a party against Nitish Kumar in alliance with RJD and Congress. RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav has also extended the party’s full support to Sharad saying that RJD will support and form an alliance with Sharad Yadav led party.
