Amidst the ongoing controversy over Hindi, Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai has said that one does not need to learn Hindi to prove himself as an Indian. He said that the Tamil language, which has been practiced since time immemorial, is enough to link it with the national language.
In Tamil Nadu, the government and the opposition have united regarding Tamil language and are opposing the making of Hindi as the national language.
Tamil Nadu BJP President K Annamalai said that his party will neither allow anyone to impose Hindi on the people of Tamil Nadu nor will it accept it. He said that one does not need to learn Hindi to prove that one is an Indian. One can learn Hindi or any language for job or employment. Prime Minister Modi also says that everyone should learn their local language.
Tamil Nadu BJP President Annamalai said that Hindi is also an optional language in the National Education Policy of the Centre. One can study in any language. The most proud thing for us will be when Tamil will get the status of the respective language of the country. Former IPS officer Annamalai said- I also do not know Hindi and many of us do not know Hindi.
Hindi language can be learned for studies or employment but cannot be imposed on anyone. It is worth noting that recently, Union Home Minister Amit Shah had said that Hindi can be an alternative to English and can be made the official language of the nation.
Former Union Minister Pon Radhakrishnan also said that there is no need to hate any language but replacing Tamil language with Hindi or any other language is not acceptable at all. He said that in the year 2018, PM Modi himself, while describing Tamil language as the oldest language, said that Tamil is a language even before Hindi and Sanskrit. He also asked the children to learn Tamil language.
