Foreign Minister of Bangladesh AK Abdul Momen on Monday, said that their country has asked for a list of illegal Bangladeshi residents in India and assured that they will allow them to return.
Citing busy schedule, Momen cancelled his visit to India on Thursday. He said that Bangladesh-India relations are normal and will not be affected by the NRC or the Citizenship Amendment act issue. He said, “India has assured Dhaka that the twin issues would not affect their relation with Bangladesh.”
Momen said that Bangladesh has requested New Delhi to provide a list of Bangladeshis living illegally in India, “if any”, to be repatriated. He said, “We will allow them as they have the right to enter into their own country.”
