Four men including a former constable, allegedly abducted and gang-raped a minor girl in Puri district of Odisha yesterday.

The former constable and his aide were passing by when they saw the minor girl waiting at the bus stand and offered to drop her home. As per reports, the four men, instead of offering her help, took the minor girl to a police quarter where they raped her. The girl, however, managed to escape with the help of a passerby when the constable was sleeping under the influence of alcohol. She managed to get hold of an identity card of one of the accused while being assaulted, and produced the same in the police station later.

The accused was identified as Jitendra Sethi, a dismissed police constable in Puri district. Sethi, allegedly used the identity card to gain victim’s trust.

Followed by her complaint, a raid was conducted by cops in the police quarters and Sethi was arrested from the spot. Police have also launched a search operation to nab the other accused.
