Seventeen years ago on this date, India witnessed the dreadful Parliament Attacks. On December 13, 2001, five armed terrorists backed by Lashkar-e-Taiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed attacked the Parliament and opened fire exactly in the complex.
The terrorist attack led to the deaths of 5 Delhi Police personnel, a woman Central Reserve Police official, 2 Parliament Security Service personnel, a gardener and a TV cameraperson.
On the 17th anniversary of the barbaric attack, PM Narendra Modi, Congress President Rahul Gandhi, President Ramnath Kovind, Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and other leaders paid homage to the deceased security personnel.

The accused in the cases namely Professor S A R Geelani, Mohammed Afzal Guru, and Shaukat Hassan were arrested and Afzal Guru was hanged at the Tihar Jail at 8 am on February 9, 2013
