After his tribute to Jews at Yad Vashem, PM Modi was advised by PM Netanyahu to visit the tomb of Zionism’s founder, Theodore Herzl at Mt Herzl. Zionism was a movement to establish a  Jewish homeland. He was an Austro-Hungarian journalist, playwright, political activist and a writer who died in 1904 at the age of 44.

Later in 1949, his grave was reburied on the top of the Mount Herzl in Jerusalem, named in his memories. Modi agreed to the suggestion and visited the tomb and placed a small rock on the marble tomb. He has posted a video and a tweet on his official Twitter account regarding this visit. Even the External Affair Ministry’s spokesperson, Gopal Baglay tweeted about Modi’s visit and called Herzl as the Visionary Of the State.

It was an impromptu visit to the grave of Theodore Herzl on a spontaneous suggestion of PM Netanyahu.
