Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Maharashtra today to participate in the ‘Magnetic Maharashtra’ event at Mumbai and inaugurated several big projects, including the much-awaited Navi Mumbai International Airport.

Modi arrived in the state capital in the afternoon for performing a ground-breaking ceremony for Mumbai’s second international airport worth Rs. 16,700 crore. Right after that he headed to Jawaharlal Nehru Port Trust to inaugurate its fourth container terminal.

The prime minister then came back to Mumbai and addressed a large gathering at the three-day long ‘Magnetic Maharashtra’ conference, where several big projects undertaken by the state government were showcased. These included the Mumbai Metro, Mumbai-Nagpur Expressway, Mumbai trans-harbour link road, and Pune Metro.

Modi also interacted with several global and Indian corporate chiefs there along with Maharashtra chief minister Devendra Fadnavis, who said that his state aims to sign around 5,000 MoUs and invest Rs. 10 lakh crore at the event, with the intention of generating 35 lakh jobs and making Maharashtra the manufacturing capital of India.

PM Modi departed for poll-bound Karnataka immediately after the event to address public rallies in Mysuru there and then visit Shravanabelagola’s religious gathering that draws lakhs of devotees every year.
