Another cricketer turns politician; Praveen Kumar joins Samajwadi Party

Praveen Kumar, India and Uttar Pradesh cricketer has joined Samajwadi Party ahead of the assembly polls next year. This move came after a meeting with Akhilesh Kumar, CM & Head of Samajwadi Party in UP.

The Uttar Pradesh politics has always been a very important and interesting part of the Indian political system. The state, which has seen most of the prime ministers contesting elections from its seats, has yet again an interesting news ahead of the assembly polls, which are to be held in 2017.

Renowned Indian cricketer, Praveen Kumar, who was once regarded as one of the best Indian fast bowling talents has joined Samajwadi party, the ruling political outfit in the state. The move was announced by the cricketer himself after a meeting with Mr. Akhilesh Kumar, the chief minister of the state.

Praveen Kumar stated that he has met the chief minister and decision to join the party has been well thought. On asking whether he would contest elections next year, he added that he is still a kid when it comes about politics and there is a lot to learn. He however, did not rule out the fact and said that he would do whatever possible for the party.

Speaking on this, Akhilesh Kumar was all in praise for the cricketer and said that he has done a lot for the sportsmen in the state and will be handy in party’s plans in the near future.

Praveen Kumar has represented India in 6 test matches along with 68 One Day Internationals.
