President Ram Nath Kovind on Monday conferred the Padma awards, one of the highest civilian awards of the country to 56 Personalities out of total 112 announced by Union Home Ministry on January 26.

The Padma awards are conferred in three categories: Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri, the second, third and fourth highest civilian awards of the country respectively, only after Bharat Ratna. This year’s awardees comprise four Padma Vibhushan, 14 Padma Bhushan and 94 Padma Shri recipients.

President Ram Nath Kovind in a formal function at Rashtrapati Bhawan on Monday conferred awards to Prabhu Deva, Shankar Mahadevan, Kader Khan, Kuldeep Nayar among others.

Among those who have been conferred Padma Vibhushan are: Folk artist Teejan Bai, Djibouti’s President Ismail Omar Guelleh, L&T chairman Anilkumar Manibhai Naik, and writer Balwant Moreshwar Purandare.

ISRO scientist Nambi Narayanan, former Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Kariya Munda, Mountaineer Bachandri Pal, Mohan Lal Vishwanath Nair, Actor Mohanlal, veteran journalist Kuldeep Nayyar (posthumous), Darshan Lal for Social Work,Lok Sabha MP Hukmdev Narayan Yadav, Kariya Munda, Akali Dal Leader Sukhdev Singh Dhindsa among others have been selected for Padma Bhushan award.

While Padma Shri awards will go to veteran actor Kader Khan (posthumously), Archery Player Bombayla Devi Laishram, Animal Activist Ramesh Babaji Maharaj,  actor Manoj Bajpayee, Painter Jyoti Bhatt, Archaeologist Dilip Chakravarty, footballer Sunil Chhetri, choreographer/director Prabhu Deva, cricketer Gautam Gambhir, singer Shankar Mahadevan, Farmer and Poet Babulal Dahiya, Chess Player Harika Dronavalli, freestyle wrestler Bajrang Punia, senior advocate Harvinder Singh Phoolka, Rajni Kant for Social Work, Kabaddi player Ajay Thakur, and basketball player Prashanti Singh among others 94.
