Marking her political debut ahead of Lok Sabha polls, Congress newly appointed general secretary Priyanka Gandhi on Monday arrived at Lucknow Airport to hold a Roadshow in Lucknow to mark the beginning of her party Poll Campaign in the State.

Accompanied by Congress president Rahul Gandhi and in-charge of the western region, Jyotiraditya Scindia, a beaming Priyanka Gandhi waved at party men jostling for a glimpse of her.

As her ‘rath’ rolled on, it was a selfie galore with enthusiastic party men taking vantage positions to click prized photographs for posterity.

When the trio embarked on a roughly 18-km-long roadshow through major thoroughfares of the state capital, rose petals were sprinkled and marigold garlands showered at their cavalcade.

Congress workers wore t-shirts with Congress General Secretary for Eastern Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra’s face to welcome her ahead of her road show with Congress President Rahul Gandhi in Lucknow today.

Priyanka is in Lucknow for a four-day visit, her first trip after formally joining politics two weeks ago, as she takes stock of party preparations for the upcoming Lok Sabha polls. Shortly before arriving in Lucknow, Priyanka joined Twitter and has already amassed close to 46,000 followers.

BJP MP Vinay Katiyar hits out at Priyanka Gandhi’s roadshow in Lucknow during her maiden visit as Congress Gen Sec. “UP is a cremation ground for Congress. A day before her maiden visit to the state as Congress general secretary in-charge of western Uttar Pradesh, Priyanka Gandhi said she hopes to start a “new kind of politics” in which everyone will be a stakeholder.

Priyanka Gandhi also said she is new in the politics and inexperienced but asserted that she will give her best in upcoming Lok Sabha Polls 2019, party functionary further told.

Earlier Priyanka Gandhi held key meetings at Rahul’s residence with other Congres leaders and discussed the strategy for Uttar Pradesh-East as she has been made the general secretary for the region.

Priyanka Gandhi entered into politics formally on January 24, she has been made in-charge of 43 out of 80 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
