Around 40 CRPF personnel were killed on Thursday in the deadliest terror attack on security forces in a decade when their convoy was targetted in Pulwama District on Srinagar-Jammu National Highway. The convoy comprised 78 Buses in which around 2500 CRPF Personnel were travelling from Jammu and Kashmir.

A bus, in which 42 CRPF Personnel was travelling was being targetted and got extensively damaged in the blast that was followed by firing on the vehicle.

Pakistan based terror outfit Jaish e Mohammad (JeM) claimed the responsibility of the Pulwama Terror attack and reportedly stated that it was a suicide bomber.

The Deadliest attack on CRPF Personnel has evoked strong condemnation from all political parties, and other countries and organizations.

Jammu and Kashmir Governor Satyapal Malik said, ‘Forces responsible for the insurgency in J&K are desperate & frustrated and just want to prove presence. Visibly it seems to be guided from across the border as Jaish-e-Mohammad has claimed responsibility’

Union Minister Arun Jaitley said, ‘Attack on CRPF in #Pulwama, J&K is cowardice & a condemnable act of terrorists. Nation salutes martyrs&we stand united with families of martyrs. We pray for the speedy recovery of the injured. Terrorists will be given an unforgettable lesson for their heinous act’.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi said, ‘Attack on CRPF personnel in Pulwama is despicable. I strongly condemn this dastardly attack. Sacrifices of our brave security personnel shall not go in vain. The entire nation stands shoulder to shoulder with the families of the brave martyrs. May the injured recover quickly’

UPA Chairperson Sonia Gandhi said, ‘I am shocked, outraged & deeply grieved by the barbarous attack on CRPF convoy in J&K. Our brave CRPF personnel died serving the nation selflessly, at the hands of cowardly terrorists, & their sacrifice will not be forgotten’.

However, as per early Investigations, Police identified the terrorist as Adil Ahmad from Kakapora in Pulwama. He joined the Jaish-Mohammed in 2018, Police said.
