Adding to the controversial RAFALE row.Once again, the RAFALE ‘landed’ in the Supreme Court of India.

The Supreme Court of India, on Thursday agreed to review its verdict on RAFALE deal, that has been delivered by the Supreme Court of India in December,2018.

The Supreme Court of India, previously dismissed a clutch of pleas saying that,”there was no occasion to doubt” in the decision-making process for the procurement o 36 RAFALE jets from France.

The matter came into light when senior advocate, Prashant Bhushan urged the Apex Court to hear a petition seeking review of its previous judgement.

In the plea, Prashant Bhushan sought ‘perjury prosecution’ of some of the official for ‘misleading’ the Apex Court by providing false information in a sealed cover, in the RAFALE deal case.

Earlier this week, Prashant Bhushan, Arun Shourie and Yashwant Sinha moved to the top court seeking initiation of ‘perjury proceedings against the Central Government Officials, alleging them of producing ‘false’ or ‘misleading’ information in a sealed cover to the Supreme Court of India, in the RAFALE matter.

The trio, filed the fresh application, seeking perjury prosecution against the alleged officials, under section 340 of the CrPC(Code of Criminal Procedure) ,further under section 193 and 195 of the IPC(Indian Penal Code) which deals with the offences of providing false evidence, contempt of lawful authority of public servants and giving false documents in evidence.

The plea also provided details of the ‘misleading facts’ to the Supreme Court, as per the consensus of the petitioners.

After filing the three petitions, former Union Ministers Yashwant Sinha and Arun Shourie along with advocate Prashant Bhushan moved the top court seeking a direction to the CBI to register a complaint regarding the ‘irregularities’ in the RAFALE deal.

Also, earlier, AAP lawmaker, Sanjay Singh filed a petition in the court seeking a review of the Supreme Court’s previous judgement on RAFALE.

However, Prashant Bhushan cited that the review petition presented by the AAP lawmaker was defective and other petitions had no defect to cure.

A bench headed by Chief Justice Ranjan Gogoi said that out of the 4 petition filed in the RAFALE context, one of them is still lying with the registry with the account of defect.

Yashwant Sinha, previously, also claimed that the ‘economic data’ is being manipulated by the BJP government to give a ‘false impression’ of development.
