The I-T department on Tuesday raided Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam’s (AMMK) office in Andipatti, Theni yesterday.
The flying squad of the I-T department raided an Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam (AMMK) office in Tamil Nadu’s Theni yesterday. As soon as the officials reached the region, protesters tried stopping the raids.
Mentioning that a lot of cash packets were seized, an I-T official said, ” The packets have ward numbers and number of voters written on them and Rs. 300 is written on each of the packets. The raid is continuing.”
Apart from this DMK candidate Kanimozhi’s office was also raided but the I-T officials had to return empty handed. The party chief MK Stalin blamed PM Narendra Modi for using intelligence agencies for their tactics.
“Crores and crores of rupees are kept in Tamilisai Soundararajan’s (BJP TN Chief)residence, why no raids there? Modi is using IT, CBI, Judiciary and now EC to interfere in elections. They are doing this as they fear losing,” Stalin said.
“These incidents confirm that Modi is using the Election Commission to threaten us. We will not be cowed down by these incidents and will emerge victorious,” Kanimozhi had said.
Tamil Nadu goes to polling on April 18.
